What if the money were given to education and law enforcement?
Many educators and law enforcement officers are losing jobs in my state. Do you think they would have been a better investment than the large corporations that received bailout money?

- The question is how many people in the upper echelons of the unions were laid off? Unions are for the working class my ass.
- some of it, but giving money is not the same as reform, which is needed
- Well Law Enforcement Anything should not receive ANY stimuli, and whoever thought that up is an ass. There is no way the Police cannot function, they are a part of the Government and that is why life goes on in the Police world no matter what. And also, how woudl it improve things? The Obama administration is already spending money that does not exist, and it doesnt seem to matter that it simply is npot there. It is being spent anyway and having a minimal, if any, effect on the Economy that will come back to haunt us when we get Back To Realityand realize that our Taxes are Out Of Coutrol. I can see it nw: We muct approve this tax hike to y for the sercices which have brought our country out of the recession." Sorry , my cimouter is being slow. The betteer thing to do would hae been to not have ANY timue bankls ably even w... it started a mess. If it wabankland stuff... it started a mess. If it was a good idea, it was not applied right. Government is incapable of doing anythign right. Really. Hope this helps.
- A lot of money is going to education and law enforcement.
- Why would anyone want to invest in the useful things? Much better to invest in companies that are more likely to grow corrupt.
- Tax revenues fall when non-government workers have no jobs. Hence, teachers and cops get laid off too. You don't get the workers back to work and paying taxes by retaining the public employees and raising tax rates to cover the revenue shortfall. You should realize that there is no such thing as state money or Federal money. It is all taxpayer money. Public employees are paid with taxpayer money and are forced to give some of it back in the form of taxes. But it is still taxpayer money they are giving back.
- States have been given money. They're responsible for law enforcement and education. And states aren't allowed to have a debt. Hence, they either have to raise taxes or cut spending. The money we gave to large corporations was loaned to them. They will eventually pay it back. If you're state needs a loan from the federal govt, I'm sure they can get it.
- no, they should stop giving alleged "stimulus" money awat as welfare payments instead
- It'll be a great day when education gets all the money it wants and the Air Force has to hold a bake sale to buy bombers.
