Can women be snipers for law enforcement units?

Like swat or the FBI etc? I know they can not be snipers in the military but i was wondering if they would be for special government law enforcement units, maybe like the CIA or something like that, or just regular law enforcement units. I love the show "Flashpoint" and the female who is in that show is a sniper, i know tv shows and real life are completely different but i am curious if women can be snipers in civilian life. Thanks!

  1. yes they can , in fact there are laws that infact encourage this
  2. I don't know of any reason why a woman couldn't be a sniper for a PD. However, most, if not all, SWAT snipers have previous work experience in the Special Forces. So, is it impossible? No. Likely? Without sounding like a cheauvanist, no- not likely. If it is your dream, I suggest taking as many combat rifle courses as you can. Look it up- you may end up being the first female Police sniper! Best of luck!
  3. Without a doubt. The two local SWAT teams in my area are open to all officers. So long as you can pass the physical requirements and you shoot well, you can be a sniper. (make sure you're good at math)
