What's the quickest, safest driving route from Sacramento to San Bernardino?

I'll be driving from the Sacramento area to San Bernardino by myself with two toddlers and was wondering what the safest, shortest route is?

1. Shortest route is definitely I-5. Just be careful. Any other direction would be slightly out of your way. Have a safe trip! :)

3. Highway 5 was built specifically for point to point between northerna nd southern California destinations. I was there when it was being built. When I travel back to California, I travel Hwy 5 and note all the changes in stopping points and gas stations along the route.
4. Taking I-5 will get you to LA, to get to San Bernardino, then take the I-5 to the 210 Eastbound. By following Route 210, you'll get to San Bernardino.
