A total of 28 new film projects have been approved to shoot in California as part of the state’s recently expanded Film & Television Tax Credit Program. The announcement was made by Governor Newsom, who highlighted the impact these productions are expected to have on local economies.

Among the selected projects is a film from Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee and a biopic produced by Snoop Dogg. The state anticipates that these productions will generate approximately $562 million in economic activity throughout California.

The tax credit program aims to celebrate California’s creative history while attracting more production activity back to the state. By supporting both established and emerging filmmakers, officials hope to reinforce California’s role as a central hub for the entertainment industry.

The latest round of awards underscores ongoing efforts to keep film and television production within the state, benefiting local communities and businesses.
