The U.S. Census Bureau has announced it will release findings from three key reports estimating income, poverty, and health insurance coverage in the United States for 2024 at an online news conference scheduled for Tuesday, September 9 at 10 a.m. EDT.
The reports—Income in the United States: 2024, Poverty in the United States: 2024, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2024—draw on data from the Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC). The findings are expected to provide national statistics on annual income, earnings, inequality, official poverty measures as well as supplemental poverty metrics. They will also include information on health insurance coverage trends and status by select demographic characteristics.
According to the Census Bureau’s announcement, these statistics are intended to help evaluate economic trends and their effects on households, families, and individuals across the country.
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. Speakers at the event include David Waddington, chief of the Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division; Sharon Stern and Liana Fox, assistant division chiefs; and Julie Iriondo, chief of Media Relations Branch.
The agency plans to post all related reports, data tables, and a news release to its Income, Poverty and Health Insurance press kit online after the news conference begins. The event will be held virtually via Webex by Cisco. Members of media outlets can participate in a Q&A session by phone using provided audio access details.
Those seeking interviews with subject-matter experts are advised to contact the Census Bureau’s Public Information Office at pio@census.gov or call 301-763-3030.
