Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has appointed Chelle Izzi as its Chief Commercial Officer, a new role focused on supporting California’s growing energy needs. The announcement was made on November 12, 2025.
Izzi will lead PG&E’s commercial strategy with an emphasis on serving large electric customers, including those operating AI-driven data centers. This approach aims to drive load growth that could reduce rates for all PG&E customers. Serving these expanding large customers is also expected to benefit local economies by creating jobs, attracting investment, and increasing revenue for public services.
Patti Poppe, CEO of PG&E Corporation, stated: “We’re thrilled to welcome Chelle to the PG&E family as we continue to work every day to provide clean, resilient energy and create prosperity for the customers and hometowns we serve. Chelle’s expertise will help us find new ways to serve California’s growing electric demand while staying focused on affordability for our customers.”
With over 25 years in the clean energy sector, Izzi brings experience from roles at Constellation Energy, CPower, NextEra Energy Resources, and Walmart. She plans to use this background to address the complexities associated with large-load customers and identify opportunities for further growth at PG&E.
“PG&E’s electric demand will reach new levels as large commercial customers bring projects online and electrify their vehicle fleets,” said Izzi. “Meeting this transformational moment requires a strategic and streamlined approach to deliver for these high-growth customers. I’m passionate about accelerating the energy transition, and there is no better time or place to do so than today at PG&E.”
PG&E anticipates that electricity demand on its grid will approximately double by 2040 due largely to increased consumption from industries such as technology, agriculture, retail, education, manufacturing, and government. Data centers alone may contribute up to 10 gigawatts of additional demand—enough power for about 7.5 million homes.
The company expects that greater electricity usage will allow it to spread fixed operational costs across more users. For each additional gigawatt of data center demand added to the grid, customer bills could decrease by one percent or two percent; a total increase of ten gigawatts could result in bill reductions exceeding ten percent overall.
A similar effect applies with electric vehicles: integrating one million EVs into the grid would lower customer bills by at least one percent.
Izzi has played key roles in eMobility initiatives such as launching Walmart’s public EV charging network; developing Greenlane—a zero-emission fleet network—and leading NextEra Mobility efforts. Earlier positions include senior leadership at Constellation Energy and work with the United Nations Office for Project Services.
She holds an MBA in Finance and Economics from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
PG&E serves more than 16 million people across Northern and Central California through its combined natural gas and electric utility operations covering approximately 70,000 square miles. More information can be found at https://www.pge.com/ or via their news site https://www.pge.com/news/.
