Union members from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) in Florida convened in Tallahassee for a five-day legislative conference. The meeting brought together both active members and retirees to engage with state representatives and senators on issues affecting working people, including labor rights, wage improvements, and the safeguarding of pensions and Social Security.

Leaders at the event highlighted their opposition to proposed legislation they say could undermine union power. “Leaders and activists emphasize the importance of opposing anti-union legislation that threatens the collective bargaining power and financial stability of the working class.”

Participants stated that by speaking directly with lawmakers, they intend to represent machinists throughout Florida, covering areas from the Kennedy Space Center to South Florida and the Panhandle. Their primary objective is to influence policy decisions for better conditions for union workers ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
