The City’s Incident Management Team (IMT) responded to 612 calls for service related to homelessness during the week of March 23-29, according to an April 3 update. The team engaged with people experiencing homelessness, offered services and shelter options, and worked to ensure compliance with city laws and ordinances.
The IMT visited 685 unique locations across the city within that period. In the Central City area, the Department of Community Response (DCR) focused on maintaining a clean, safe, and accessible downtown through daily operations and outreach activities.
DCR teams carried out early morning deployments to address community concerns in public spaces throughout downtown. Their work aims to support businesses, residents, and visitors by keeping high-traffic areas clean while also connecting individuals in crisis with needed services.
The DCR’s approach balances outreach efforts with cleanup operations and enforcement actions. These combined activities are intended to create a downtown environment where economic activity, cultural events, and daily use of public spaces can proceed without disruption.
Partnerships with organizations such as the Downtown Sacramento Partnership are described as key elements in aligning daily operations and maintaining a well-managed environment across the Central City. According to officials, these collaborations help ensure that maintenance efforts support a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all members of the community.
