The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is encouraging all its Districts and Locals to identify and support members interested in attending the 2026 Pride at Work Convention, scheduled for June 2-4 in Minneapolis, according to an April 9 announcement.

The convention aims to promote equality, dignity, and respect for LGBTQIA+ workers within workplaces, unions, and communities. The IAM says this initiative is important as it aligns with the union’s values of diversity, inclusion, safety, and dignity for all members.

Pride at Work is a constituency group affiliated with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). Its mission supports building a labor movement that opposes discrimination in any form. The IAM Executive Council said the principle guiding their work is that “an injury to one is an injury to all,” emphasizing continued opposition to discrimination.

According to the IAM statement, this focus on inclusion matches ongoing efforts such as expanding Human Rights Committees across every District and Local. These committees aim to ensure that every member feels welcomed and respected within the union.

The event will take place at the Marquette Hotel in Minneapolis. Credentialing begins June 1. Members are advised to reserve hotel rooms by May 1 due to limited availability. Early registration ends April 19. For further information or questions about attendance or registration details, members can contact Nicole Fears, IAM Human Rights Director.

The announcement concludes by stating: “When we show up, engage, and stand together, we build a stronger, more inclusive IAM Union and a more powerful labor movement for all working people.”
