The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Women’s & Young Workers Department has opened registration for two upcoming leadership programs aimed at supporting women in the union. The Women’s Leadership Program will take place from March 1 to March 6, 2026, while the Advanced Women’s Leadership Program is scheduled for March 15 to March 20, 2026. Both sessions will be held at the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center in Hollywood, Maryland.

The Women’s Leadership Program focuses on encouraging female union members to become more active within their local chapters and districts. According to IAM, “The Women’s Leadership Program is designed to build leadership skills and develop skills in the areas of organizing, parliamentary procedure, political and legislative involvement, strategic planning, and network building.”

For those who have already completed the initial program, the Advanced Women’s Leadership Program offers further training. “The Advanced Women’s Leadership Program is designed for members who have completed the Women’s Leadership Program and are ready to take the next step in their leadership journey. Participants will build on prior learning while further developing critical skills in leadership development, organizing, parliamentary procedure, political and legislative involvement, strategic planning, and network building,” according to IAM.

Both programs aim to provide participants with practical tools and confidence for effective leadership roles within the union. As stated by IAM: “Women’s Leadership Programs equip IAM sisters with the tools and confidence needed to lead effectively at every level of the union and to strengthen solidarity across our membership.”

Details about tuition costs, transportation arrangements, and curriculum can be found in the official call letter provided by IAM. Registration must be completed using a departmental form specific to these programs.

Deadlines for registration are January 21, 2026 for the Women’s Leadership Program and February 11, 2026 for the Advanced Women’s Leadership Program.

Members seeking additional information or assistance are advised to contact the IAM Women’s & Young Workers Department at 301-967-4747.

IAM encourages eligible members to participate in these educational opportunities as part of ongoing efforts toward a stronger and more inclusive organization.
