The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) recently hosted its 2025 Joint Air Transport Safety Committee (JATSC) Conference at the William W. Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, Maryland. The event brought together members to discuss and promote several key safety initiatives in the air transport sector.

The committee concentrated on strengthening collaborative safety programs, such as the Ground Safety Action Program. Additional topics included strategies for injury prevention, hazard mitigation, and the importance of supporting ongoing training and education for workers. The conference also emphasized the need for strong worker safety reporting systems.

Throughout the conference, daily video wrap-up reports were produced to summarize the sessions. These reports covered presentations on issues like distracted driving and the challenges of carelessness and complacency in the workplace.

According to the IAM, the goal of the conference was to foster a safer work environment through collaboration, training, and proactive hazard management.
