The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) held its annual MNPL Conference in Savannah, Georgia on March 31. Approximately 300 IAM union members attended the event to discuss labor politics, fundraising efforts, and receive updates from legislative leaders regarding strategies for the upcoming midterm elections.
The conference serves as a significant gathering for IAM members who are focused on advancing labor interests through political engagement. Participants used the opportunity to connect with peers and hear directly from lawmakers about legislative priorities that impact workers.
Following the main conference sessions, IAM delegates joined the No Kings rally and march in downtown Savannah. During this demonstration, attendees voiced criticism of current presidential labor policies, calling attention to concerns they believe affect working people.
Events like the MNPL Conference highlight ongoing efforts by organized labor groups to influence policy decisions at both local and national levels. By combining education with direct action such as rallies, union members aim to shape public discourse around worker rights.
Looking ahead to the midterms, IAM representatives indicated that continued advocacy and mobilization will remain central strategies as they seek policy changes beneficial to their membership.
