Intel has announced the launch of its AI-Ready School Initiative, a new effort to support the Presidential AI Challenge and the Artificial Intelligence for American Youth initiative. The company will work with 250 schools across the United States to prepare students in grades 3–12 to develop responsible artificial intelligence solutions.
The initiative includes providing 250 hours of free AI curriculum covering topics such as generative AI, data science, computer vision, AI ethics, and entrepreneurship. Intel will also offer professional development classes for 5,000 educators, featuring over 100 lesson plans that integrate AI concepts. Additionally, students will have opportunities to showcase their projects and compete for prizes at the Intel AI Global Impact Festival.
As part of this program, Intel is donating 500 AI-enabled PCs designed for secure and energy-efficient teaching environments. The company also plans to build a local partner ecosystem to ensure schools have access to an open x86 compute environment. Support will be extended to community colleges and universities through more than 1,000 hours of industry-specific AI curriculum in areas like agriculture, manufacturing, cybersecurity, sustainability, applied ethics, and accessibility.
Intel’s long-term goal is to expand this model by 2030 to reach over 2,500 U.S. schools and impact approximately 25 million students through collaborations with state governments, education leaders, and technology partners.
“As the world accelerates into the AI era, every young American should have access to the tools, skills, and experiences that will define the future,” said Greg Ernst, Intel Corporate Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer. “At Intel, we believe empowering students, educators, and schools with AI capabilities is essential to preparing the next generation of responsible innovators.” Ernst continued: “through our support of the Presidential AI Challenge, we’re investing in America’s future – championing innovation, advancing educational equity, and building a strong foundation for values-driven AI leadership across the country.”
