The International Labor Communications Association (ILCA) will hold its biennial convention in New Orleans from November 18 to 20, 2025. The event is set to include community service activities, networking receptions, the ILCA awards ceremony, and a series of panels and workshops focused on a theme that will be announced at a later date. The ILCA is an organization that supports labor communicators throughout North America and is affiliated with the AFL-CIO.

DeLane Adams, Assistant Communications Director for the IAM Union, currently serves as Secretary-Treasurer for the ILCA.

The IAM Communications Department, along with its districts and locals, has received recognition over the years through the ILCA Labor Media Awards Contest. This contest is described as “the biggest and longest-running competition of its kind, showcasing the best of the best in labor communications.”

Recent winners from the IAM Union in 2024 include Angela Colaizzi, who received the Max Steinbock Award for “NLRB Takes Down Union Buster”; Ashley Mumford and the entire IAM Journal Team, who took third place for Best Print Publication for their Summer 2023 issue; and Ross Olson, who won third place for Best Design – Single Issue Publication.

According to organizers, past conventions have provided opportunities for attendees to share best practices with other labor communications professionals across North America.

Registration for the ILCA Convention is open to all interested parties and membership is not required to attend.
