The Meadowview Certified Farmers Market will reopen on May 3, offering fresh food, local vendors, and community activities in the Meadowview neighborhood.

The reopening event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Meadowview Light Rail Station at 3501 Meadowview Road. The market is operated by Alchemist Community Development Corporation.

The celebration will include free face painting, health screenings, a bike repair clinic hosted by Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates, and live entertainment. Nostalgias de México will perform a dance show at 11 a.m., and MK Mobile Music will provide music as a live DJ.

Funding for the market was secured by Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen through the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The market is managed with support from the City’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development and Councilmember Mai Vang. “The reopening of the Meadowview Certified Farmers Market is a meaningful moment for South Sacramento, especially for the Meadowview community,” said Vang. “This market continues to be a space where people come together and have access to fresh, healthy, and culturally relevant food. We invite folks from across the city to come out, support our local vendors, and spend time in a community space that reflects the heart of Meadowview.”

Vendors this season include Red Boot Ranch, Golden Honeybees, Mae Baan Farm and McGee Family Farm offering produce; prepared foods are available from Mama Vang’s, Wheat Ridge Baking Co., Luna Cafe among others.

The market operates every Sunday from May 3 through October 25 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., rain or shine. CalFresh/EBT payments are accepted with Market Match nutrition incentives matching up to $15 each week in EBT benefits.

A new Kids Bucks program offers children aged twelve or under $5 vouchers each week for eligible agricultural products such as fruits or vegetables; these must be used on the same day they are issued.

Sacramento Regional Transit provides free rides to attendees on May 3 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.; riders can board buses or light rail at no cost by showing either printed or digital flyers.
