Alejandro “Alex” Vallejo has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer at PG&E Corporation and its subsidiary, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), effective September 30. Vallejo brings 15 years of experience within the company to his new role.

In this position, Vallejo will oversee PG&E’s People organization. His responsibilities include talent acquisition, labor relations, coworker development, and change management. He is tasked with building a workforce and culture that supports the company’s goal of delivering a safe and resilient energy system for customers.

Patti Poppe, CEO of PG&E Corporation, commented on the appointment: “Alex has been one of the most empathetic and trustworthy leaders I’ve had the pleasure of working with. He understands and models the culture we are working to build at PG&E—focused on safety, leading with love and causing joy for our coworkers and customers. I look forward to his leadership in developing our team to bring this culture to life every day.”

Vallejo replaces Kaled Awada, who recently left PG&E to pursue other opportunities. Previously, Vallejo served as Chief Risk Officer and Senior Vice President of Ethics & Compliance at PG&E. In those roles, he managed risk assessment related to operations and public safety as well as overseeing ethics, compliance, privacy, federal compliance, records management, and information governance programs.

“In my 15 years at PG&E, I have come to know, love and deeply admire my coworkers, from our hometown service centers to our Oakland headquarters. I’m honored to continue fostering our culture, where it is enjoyable to work with and for PG&E and where we’re delivering for our customers to meet the dynamic and critical energy needs of California,” said Vallejo.

Before joining PG&E in various legal and customer-focused leadership roles, Vallejo was a litigator at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP handling complex commercial cases. He holds a law degree from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Riverside.

PG&E serves more than sixteen million people across 70,000 square miles in Northern and Central California as a combined natural gas and electric utility.
