Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is preparing customers for a summer of higher-than-average temperatures, according to forecasts from its Meteorology Operations team. The utility is offering a range of tools and programs to help households stay cool and manage energy costs during the hot months.

PG&E recommends that customers review their current rate plans to ensure they are on the most cost-effective option for their energy use. This can be done through the Rate Comparison tool available in each customer’s online account. The company notes that savings will differ depending on household type and usage patterns.

To avoid unexpected billing spikes, PG&E encourages enrollment in its Budget Billing program, which averages out energy costs over 12 months to provide more predictable monthly payments. Customers can also sign up for Bill Forecast Alerts, which notify them by email, text, or phone if their bill is projected to exceed a set amount based on ongoing usage.

Additionally, PG&E offers access to a free personal energy coach through the HomeIntel program at no cost.

“We know the challenges rising temperatures can bring and we want to connect customers with the discounts and resources they need to weather the summer heat,” said Vincent Davis, PG&E Senior Vice President, Customer Experience. “A few small changes at home can make a difference, and we want to make sure families have access to support tools and programs that can reduce energy expenses.”

The company has announced that it does not anticipate further electric rate increases for the remainder of 2025. Residential gas and electric bills are expected to remain steady this year with a decrease projected in 2026. However, increased use of air conditioning during hotter months may still lead some customers to see higher bills.

PG&E provides additional resources such as Home Energy Checkups, participation in its SmartRate Program, and use of the Savings Finder tool through its website at https://www.pge.com/summer.

Income-eligible households have access to assistance programs designed to lower monthly bills. There are also specialized options like Medical Baseline for those who rely on electricity due to certain medical needs.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company serves over sixteen million people across 70,000 square miles in Northern and Central California as part of PG&E Corporation (NYSE: PCG). More information about its services is available at https://www.pge.com/ and https://www.pge.com/news.
