High school seniors in the Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) are being encouraged to apply for a range of scholarships available for the 2025-2026 academic year. The application period closes on April 10, 2026. Details about eligibility and how to apply can be found at https://www.scusd.edu/scholarships.

The scholarships offer varying amounts and have different criteria. Among them, the George H. Clark Memorial Scholarship provides $5,000 per year for four years to one student from each comprehensive high school in the district. Final selection is based on academic achievement, citizenship, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and financial need.

Another major award is the Rise Above Scholarship, which offers $5,000 ($2,500 per semester) to a graduating senior who demonstrates financial need, has a weighted GPA of 3.9 or higher, participates in certain honor societies or clubs, and plans full-time enrollment at an accredited four-year college or university.

The Luela M. Goff Memorial Scholarship awards $900 per year for up to four years to students who spent their junior and senior years at an SCUSD high school and plan to attend a California college or university.

Several other scholarships are available with awards ranging from $500 to $1,000. These include:

– Carpenter’s Local Union No. 46 Scholarship: For students attending a two- or four-year college full time who show academic achievement (GPA of 2.0 or better), community involvement, volunteer experience, financial need, and enthusiasm.
– Antonio Medrano Memorial Scholarship: Open to seniors enrolling full-time in college or vocational school; preference given to those involved in bilingual programs within SCUSD or specific elementary schools.
– Jewell T. O’Connell Memorial Scholarship: Focuses on financial need; applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA and not receive other significant scholarships.
– Thomas M. Eustis Memorial Scholarship: For seniors attending a California college with a science or math focus; preference given to C.K. McClatchy High School graduates with strong academics and extracurricular involvement.
– Susan Cherveny Memorial Scholarship: Recognizes excellence in Language Arts and Humanities as well as community involvement.

Additional opportunities are specifically available for C.K. McClatchy High School (CKM) seniors:

– Dell’Orto Simmons Scholarship ($2,500): For CKM seniors planning full-time study at any accredited institution; financial need required.
– C.K. McClatchy Class of ’66 Scholarship (minimum $2,000): For graduating CKM seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who demonstrate commitment to education and financial need.
– John A. and Charlotte M. Church Memorial Scholarship ($1,000): Awarded annually based on scholarship record (GPA 3.0+), extracurriculars, leadership qualities, positive attitude, and financial need.
– Rodney Hollander Memorial Scholarship ($500): Open to CKM graduates planning attendance at Los Rios Community College District campuses; special education students encouraged; no minimum GPA required.
– Lino Delgadillo Memorial Scholarship ($250): For Air Force Jr. ROTC cadets or Criminal Justice Program students at CKM pursuing further education within California.
