The Sacramento City Unified School District is inviting families to participate in its annual School Climate Survey, which will be open from February 23 to March 20. The district emphasizes the importance of community feedback in assessing how schools are performing.

“Positive school climate is important to us as we work towards equitable outcomes for all of our students. The social and emotional health of our students is a priority. Hearing from all members of our community on these issues is critical,” according to the district.

California requires school districts to collect input from families each year regarding safety and their sense of connection with schools. The district encourages parents and guardians to share the survey with others throughout the school community.

The Family School Climate Survey is available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Hmong, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Russian. Families are asked to complete one survey for each school their child attends. The process should take about ten minutes.

Students in grades 3 through 12 will also be asked to complete a similar survey during class time. A copy of this student survey can be reviewed by families. The district notes that maintaining a positive school climate aligns with state priorities and supports its goal for safe, emotionally healthy, and engaged students. Additional details can be found on the School Climate Survey webpage.
