Sacramento residents are invited to participate in a series of citywide volunteer events on April 11, according to an announcement on Apr. 2. The events will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and aim to beautify local parks and waterways through activities such as litter pick-up, planting, and mulching.

The initiative encourages individuals, families, and community groups to get involved in caring for neighborhood green spaces while marking the lead-up to Earth Day celebrations. Several locations will offer opportunities for landscaping projects in addition to trash collection.

“Earth Day is a great reminder that small actions can make a big difference in our community,” said Sarah Kolarik, the City’s Sustainability Specialist. “These volunteer events are an opportunity to connect with our neighbors and care for the parks and waterways that make Sacramento a great place to live.”

Residents interested in volunteering can explore event locations and activities on the Better Impact platform. Advance registration is encouraged so staff can prepare accordingly. All ages are welcome; however, minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

For additional information or questions about participating, community members can contact climate@cityofsacramento.org.
