Snap Inc. announced on Mar. 25 the launch of AI Clips in Lens Studio, a new feature that uses artificial intelligence to turn a single photo into a five-second video through a closed prompt system. The new format is available to Snapchat Lens+ subscribers.

AI Clips are designed to make AI-generated videos more accessible and shareable, according to Snap Inc. For the first time, developers can build and publish photo-to-video AI directly onto Snapchat using the GenAI Suite within Lens Studio.

Unlike other tools on the market, AI Clips use a closed-prompt approach rather than open-ended text-to-video models or experimental demos. The company said this design aims for scale, creativity, and repeat engagement by combining direct photo input with real distribution and monetization opportunities.

Lens+ subscribers are described as seeking premium and immersive experiences, making AI Clips both an entertainment option for users and an opportunity for developers to reach engaged audiences with their ideas. Developers who participate in the Lens+ Payouts program can also earn money from their creations.
