Snapchat and Xbox have introduced a new augmented reality (AR) lens that allows users to scan the moon and see it transformed into Moon Man, the mascot from The Outer Worlds 2. This collaboration marks Snapchat’s first AR Lens capable of recognizing the moon.

The new feature uses celestial tracking technology and a phone’s compass to enable fans to interact with the moon regardless of weather or lighting conditions. When users scan the moon through Snapchat, Moon Man appears with his signature expressions. Users can also switch their camera view to see themselves as Moon Man.

In addition, Xbox and Snapchat have developed a custom telescope inspired by in-game items from Auntie’s Choice in The Outer Worlds 2. The telescope incorporates Snapchat AR technology, allowing users to point it at the moon and watch Moon Man appear.
