Sutter Health has opened a new urgent care clinic in San Francisco’s Financial District at 55 2nd Street. The facility aims to provide same-day medical care for non-emergency conditions to residents, workers, and visitors in the area.

Elizabeth Armstrong, CEO of Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation – South, stated, “As downtown San Francisco continues to evolve and grow, Sutter Health is proud to grow with it. Our new urgent care will make it easier for people to get access to timely, high-quality care where they live and work. It’s also one more way Sutter’s supporting the city’s continued renewal and forward momentum.”

The clinic occupies 6,100 square feet and is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians from Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation and Sutter West Bay Medical Group. Services include evaluation and treatment for common illnesses and injuries such as sprains, minor fractures, infections, and respiratory issues. On-site X-ray, laboratory services, and EKG testing are available to facilitate faster diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Tom Peitz, emergency medicine specialist and chief of staff for Sutter’s CPMC, said, “Our team provides care that’s both efficient and thorough. When someone walks through our doors, they can expect expert attention for their immediate needs and a seamless handoff if further care is required.”

The opening of this clinic is part of Sutter Health’s broader effort to expand primary and urgent care access throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area. In 2025 alone, new urgent care centers were launched in Berkeley, Livermore, Rohnert Park, and Santa Clara. This expansion brings the total number of new outpatient sites across Northern California to 38 out of a planned 47 by 2028. Additional locations in San Francisco are expected next year.

Carolin Delker, vice president of Sutter Health’s Urgent Care Service Line said: “Expanding our urgent care network across the Bay Area allows Sutter to meet patients where they are, whether that’s close to home, work or along their daily commute. Each new site strengthens our connected system of care and brings our vision of convenient, high-quality care for the communities we serve to life.”

Sutter Health offers a variety of health services in San Francisco including primary care at several campuses operated by California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), specialty services at Pacific Heights Outpatient Center, as well as programs like the Institute of Health & Healing on its Pacific Heights campus. The addition of the Financial District urgent care clinic extends this network by providing same-day non-emergency medical services supported by an integrated system.

The new clinic will operate every day of the year—Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., weekends and holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
