The U.S. Census Bureau released new data on Mar. 26 from the Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey, known as HTOPS, covering topics such as food and nutrition, health and well-being, transportation, employment, education, and other areas.

The newly available information offers a snapshot of socioeconomic conditions in the United States based on responses from about 30,000 households surveyed in April 2025. The data are intended to help federal agencies assess conditions across the nation and within smaller geographic areas defined by the Census Bureau.

According to the announcement, users can access the HTOPS dataset as a public-use file to create customized tables for further analysis. The survey is designed as an experimental product collected every other month on both core subjects and rotating topics.

The Census Bureau said that additional data collected later in 2025 will be released in coming months. The agency emphasized that HTOPS delivers timely information federal agencies can use to monitor trends and inform operational or policy decisions.

HTOPS does not have an associated news release but was announced through a tip sheet.
